Sicily Convention Bureau and a growing network of top partners

Sicily tourism development, whether for congress tourism or for the increase in the number of travelers who choose it for enotourism, cultural, sporting and naturalistic routes or to get married, passes through synergies between the key local stakeholders. Sicily Convention & Visitors Bureau knows this and thanks to the collaboration of important companies, it can count today on valuable professional partnerships that will favor the tourist development of the destination with targeted and joint promotional and commercial actions.

The 2018 opened with the precious partnership stipulated by the Sicilian Convention Bureau with the Etna Wine and Flavors Route. The enotouristic development of the Etna area, with its hospitality excellences and the wide offer of prestigious wineries, is at the heart of the mission of the two. Many joint activities has already started. Such as the media trip supported in collaboration with Enit Wien and Wizz Air, and a scheduled famtrip and press tour in November. Marco Nicolosi, President of the Etna Wine Route, said: “I am satisfied with an agreement that will certainly be functional to an effective promotion of the territory and all the main activities of the Etna Wine Route. Cooperation is at the basis of our strategy. The experience and professionalism of SCVB will amplify the effectiveness of all our initiatives“.

On the Western side of Sicily the Gesap, the management company of Palermo airport, has shaken hands with the Convention Bureau. “We believe that Sicily Convention Bureau is a key partner for the development of congress tourism and business passenger traffic – said Fabio Giambrone, President of Gesap – a key tourism industry segment for our destination“.

Also Catania airport partner with the Convention Bureau. SAC, the management company of the airport of Catania, has responded positively to the call launched by SCVB and has confirmed the collaboration for the development of mutual tourism promotion initiatives. Nico Torrisi, CEO of SAC, on the partnership with the Convention Bureau said: “Surely, the choice to actively involve institutional partners which Ornella Laneri, Managing Director of SCVB, has recenty started is a winning one“.

The business industry in Catania, with Syracuse and Ragusa, responds positively and also the Chamber of Commerce of Catania, Ragusa, Syracuse of Eastern Sicily has expressed great interest in the promotional and commercial action of the Convention Bureau. Pietro Agen, President of the Chamber of Commerce of Catania, Ragusa, Syracuse of Eastern Sicily, has acknowledged the strategic role of the Convention Bureau for the tourism development and the birth of new companies, committing himself to offer support to the Bureau with concrete actions.

UniCredit Bank has been a certainty for Sicily Convention Bureau from 2009 to date, resulted in a rich calendar of local meetings with tourism providers during all the first half of 2018. Sicily Happy Talk 2018 is the roadshow which allowed SCVB to cross Sicily and bring the tourism debate from the institutional offices to the local ‘squares’. In fact, Chambers of Commerce and private venues have welcomed UniCredit, the Convention Bureau and the rich list of local actors who attended the meetings by bringing case histories and sharing best practices on Food&Wine, on accessible tourism, on wedding or on sustainability and cultural tourism.

The network of Sicily Convention Bureau counts on many key assets, but it will keep on broadening its boundaries.
