No food waste during events: Food for Good is the solution

Food for Good is a project for the recovery of food surpluses from events, which is promoted by Federcongressi&eventi in collaboration with the Onlus Banco Alimentare ed Equoevento.

The project is simple, does not involve great efforts, nor costs, and is carried out in compliance with the regulations thanks to Law n.155/2003, known as the Good Samaritan Law, and the Gadda Law.

Through the volunteers of Banco Alimentare ed Equoevento, Federcongressi&eventi puts in contact catering companies with the Onlus closest to the place of the event to recover excess food in a short time and in complete safety. The food recovered is then donated to charitable organizations such as family homes and centers for refugees.

The initiative of Banco Alimentare, Equoevento and Federcongressi&eventi to recover unconsumed food during conventions, congresses and events and donate it to charities is one of the best practices of the EU Platform on food loss and waste. The Platform was established by the European Commission as part of the EU Action Plan for the circular economy to identify, share and develop solutions to reduce waste in the food supply chain so as to contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goal of halving food waste by 2030.
